Slash fiction is, depending on one's preferred definition: a subgenre of romance fan fiction which exclusively deals in homosexual or male homosexual relationships; a subgenre of Alternate Pairing that addresses a relationship between characters of the same gender, especially males; or the same thing as an Alternate Pairing. The expression comes from the late 1970s, when the "/" symbol began to be used to designate a romantic relationship between Star Trek characters, especially between James T. Kirk and Spock. Slash occasionally refers to any non-canon "ship" (including heterosexual ones), but most fans use it to mean specifically to same-sex pairings or even, to exclusively male same-sex pairings.
i dont see how any one can love disrespecting and violating a fandom and all ppl who made it + the characters themselfs ... (i AM homosexual btw) ... i truely wish i didnt feel this way .. i truely do ... its pretty hard ..azz of yet no one hazz ben abel 2 make me understand how some one can not rip out thyr very heart in gilt at the fact of wut thyv drawn .. or even thot of other then the fact that thy just dont care who it offends or is disrespecting and violating.. its very confusing dont think im simply blindly flaming .. im relly trying 2 rap my head arond this ... 4 a long time now ..i know im dumb but still azz of yet only the anti slash ppl have sayed any real words of wisdom and/or respect 2 the fandom and characters themselfs ..witch relly makes me feel gilty when i DO find a slash i find cute or romantic and i become even more confused
Are you kidding me dude? Fan-works are a form of flattery, not disrespect. The fact that someone likes your work enough to draw/write stories about it should be taken as a compliment, not an affront.
no fanworks that dont twist and violat are .... slash is a form of disrespect if its a from of flattery how come the makers of the fandoms hate it so much ? and how is it it NOT disrespecting and violating 2 disrespect and violat a characters relashionship with another? and thyr sexuaity? thyr by disrespecting and violating thyr very being of who thy are
Firstly, there is nothing wrong with suggesting that someone *might* be gay. I see nothing rude or offensive about that. If someone is secure enough in his/her sexuality such a thing should not bother him/her.
Secondly, slash mostly involves *fictional* characters. Someone who does not exist in real life cannot possibly be offended.
Thirdly, I don't see how writing slash can be considered offensive to the producers. These books/movies/tvshows etc were made for ENTERTAINMENT purposes. They were made to amuse people, and fans who write or draw slash are simply amusing themselves after their own fashion. I don't know what fandoms you are referring to, but unless the producers themselves explicitly say that they don't like people writing slash fics I don't see why you feel the need to be offended on their behalf.
